Taffy Apple Snack Cake
Taffy Apple Snack Cake
Yield: Makes 9 servings
Ingredients:
1package (18-1/4 ounces) yellow cake mix with pudding in the mix, divided
2eggs
1/4cup vegetable oil
1/4cup water
1/4cup packed brown sugar, divided
2medium apples, peeled and diced
1cup chopped nuts (optional)
2tablespoons butter, melted
1/4teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2cup caramel topping
Preparation:
1.Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Reserve 3/4 cup cake mix; set aside. 2.Pour remaining cake mix into large bowl. Add eggs, oil, water and 2 tablespoons brown sugar; beat with electric mixer at medium speed 2 minutes. Stir in apples; spread in prepared pan. 3.Combine reserved cake mix, remaining 2 tablespoons brown sugar, nuts, butter and cinnamon in medium bowl; mix until well blended. Sprinkle over batter. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.4.Cool cake in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares; top each serving with about 2 teaspoons caramel topping.
